The super bantamweight clash at Foxwoods between Luis Rosa (22-0, 10 KOs) and Luis Hinojosa (28-9, 17 KOs) ended after a headbutt occurred at the end of the first round. Rosa controlled the round with his usual forward-coming style and fast hands. Rosa attacked the body of Hinojosa and was landing combinations at the end of the round when the headbutt occurred right at the bell. The ringside doctor called off the action immediately when he evaluated Hinojosa in the corner. The bout will be ruled a no contest. The WBC has Rosa ranked #12 and the IBF #11 and he trains at Boxing in Faith Gym in New Haven. CT.

In an action-packed female bout at super lightweight, ‘The Bolivian Queen’ Jennifer Salinas (19-3, 5 KOs) stopped late-substitute Angel Gladney (9-12-1, 6 KOs) at 1:51 in the 4th round. Salinas was in control the entire bout, aggressively throwing right and left hooks to the head and body. Salinas fought on the inside and from a distance when her opponent allowed, winning all the rounds until the TKO. It was unclear whether it was the referee or the doctor standing on the mat that called off the fight, but Salinas earned the knockout with her onslaught of landed combinations.

Full report to follow.
