Heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin continues await a resolution on his status from the WBC. The mandatory challenger for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was sidelined after a trace amount of a recently banned substance was found in his system.

Even if Povetkin is allowed back, Wilder is reportedly out for the rest of the year with hand and arm injuries. So an interim title fight could be a possibility.

IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua wants other heavyweights to quit trash-talking him on Twitter. “To all potential challengers..please don’t waste our time with fake hype! Serious applications only!!!”

In other news, former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin is recovering after recently suffering a gunshot in the forearm. The incident took place at 5AM in downtown Los Angeles after an altercation with two unknown assailants.
