WBA middleweight champion Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs and challenger Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora got in some verbal sparring in advance of their Spike-televised rematch on September 9 from Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. Mora said the first fight should have been a no-decision rather than a TKO for Jacobs and he’s happy for the opportunity. Jacobs said he views the fight as a stay busy fight and a step back because he wasn’t able to get a unification fight with WBO champ Billy Joe Saunders.

Daniel Jacobs: In previous interviews he said he was going to have a more exciting style and he was tired of being the boring fighter he used to be that wasn’t appealing to fans, and he wasn’t going to do much running and all this other stuff that he’s been criticized for before, that he wasn’t going to do that. Now that he says he felt the power of myself he says he’s going to completely switch the gameplan…I just hope it’s not a stinker man. You’re getting a second opportunity at my world title, please let’s not make it a snoozer. We’re both receiving a lot of criticism for this fight, but dude, please let’s just make it exciting.

Sergio Mora: Hey listen, I’m the king of criticism. When you can’t take criticism, you don’t belong to be the champion, you don’t belong at the top like that. That’s part of being a world champion, taking all the bullshit from critics and media and everyone else. And if you’re thin-skinned you’re not going to hang very much as the world champion.

In the co-feature, undefeated lightweight contenders Robert Easter Jr. and Richard Commey meet for the vacant IBF lightweight title.

Robert Easter Jr: I’m bringing a lot of fireworks and a lot of action and another short bout. September 9th I will be the IBF world champion.

Richard Commey: I’m coming to put my life on the line and I’m going to be the IBF lightweight world champion.
