American light flyweight Nico Hernandez was defeated by Uzbekistan’s Hasanboy Dusmatov 3-0, but Hernandez still came away with a bronze medal, the first medal for the U.S. in men’s boxing since 2008.

Colombian light fly Herney Martinez edged Cuban Joahnys Argilagos 2-1 in the other bronze medal match. Martinez will now face Dusmatov for the gold.

American lightweight Carlos Balderas was defeated by Cuban Jorge Alvarez 3-0 in a quarterfinal matchup. Alvarez assured himself of at least a bronze medal with the win.

Cuban middleweight Arlen Lopez knocked out Hungary’s Zoltan Harcsa in the first round.

Canadian Mandy Bujold defeated Yodgoroy of Uzbekistan 3-0 in a women’s flyweight match.
