Pacquiao not looking past Vargas

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is an 8:1 favorite, but he’s not taking his November 5 PPV clash against WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas for granted. “I’m not taking this fight lightly,” said Pacquiao. “Vargas is the champion and I won’t underestimate him…I’m not thinking about any fights in 2017. One at a time. I can’t say ‘yes’ right now. Let me finish this fight first!”

Pacquiao added that he’s staying disciplined and focused so he can concentrate on his work as a Senator in the Philippines while he trains for Vargas. “I don’t have time to go out with the friends,” he said.

Top Rank is producing this pay-per-event themselves, rather than using HBO PPV. Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum revealed, “We think we’re going to do very, very big pay-per-view numbers.”

He stated that ticket sales are tremendous and closed circuit operators (at bars) are being blown away by the response. “The pay-per-numbers we really won’t get a handle on until the week of the fight. But am I optimistic? Off the charts!”
