Surpassing all expectations, two former world champions delivered the maximum in the ring. Argentinian Daniela Romina Bermudez (21-3-2, 6 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Mexican icon Mariana “Barby” Juarez (43-9-4, 17 KOs) in an eliminator for the female bantamweight title of the World Boxing Council held before a packed house at the Arena Coliseo in México City. Bermúdez won 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94 with the crowd of more than 10,000 fans recognizing the efforts of both fighters.
Also, unbeaten Mexican super featherweight prospect Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (20-0-3, 16 KOs) win by TKO over Filipino Rey Juntilla (21-8-5, 14 KOs) in the second round. Juntilla went to the canvas three times before referee Gelasio Perez stopped the fight at the end of the round to protect the fighter.
