Former super middleweight champion Andre S.O.G. Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Alexander Brand (25-2, 19 KOs) on Saturday night at the Oracle Arena in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, California. Ward was in command from the get-go. The much bigger Ward pressed the action and outclassed the game 39-year-old Brand. In round seven Brand suffered a cut on his right eyelid. After twelve uneventful rounds the scores were 120-108 across the board.
With the win, Ward setup a PPV showdown with WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight world champion Sergey Kovalev, who was at ringside scouting Ward.
