Anthony Crolla: Beat Burns, and I’m back in title contention

By Scott Christ

Anthony Crolla wants back in the world title mix as soon as possible.

Anthony Crolla is just two days out from his fight with Ricky Burns in Manchester, and he’s hoping that a win on Saturday will put him right back in the world title race.

From Sky Sports:

“Win this fight on Saturday night and I’m right back in world title contention. The fights against Linares didn’t go my way; I know I’ve got to rebuild. But I don’t want to be dropping down a level after being at this level for a good few years. I’m expecting a very tough fight but if I fight my fight, I come through.”

Crolla (31-6-3, 13 KO) is coming off of back-to-back losses to Jorge Linares, and his last five fights have all been for the WBA lightweight title, which he won in 2015 from Darleys Perez.

Burns (41-6-1, 14 KO) is moving back down to lightweight after losing his WBA 140-pound title to Julius Indongo in April.
