Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs. Craig Baker will serve as the co-feature.
30-year-old light heavyweight Oleksandr Gvozdyk (13-0, 11 KOs) has just been scheduled to take on Craig Baker (17-1, 13 KOs) next month, according to an ESPN report. The fight will be a 10-rounder that will serve as the co-feature to Terence Crawford’s undisputed title unification with Julius Indongo on Aug. 19 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Televised coverage for the ESPN card will begin at 10pm ET, and will also be airing live on ESPN Deportes and steaming on ESPN’s mobile app.
Gvozdyk is currently riding a seven fight stoppage streak, lasting knocking out Yunieski Gonzalez in three rounds this past April. Prior to that fight he stopped Isaac Chilemba in eight rounds last November.
Baker, 33, isn’t as formidable as either of those two previous opponents, but Top Rank’s Carl Moretti says that finding a top-level opponent willing to fight Gvozdyk on the available budget was impossible. Baker is most recently coming off a knockout win over Steve Lovett last summer.
And should Top Rank be able to squeeze a third fight into the ESPN telecast, it will be Shakur Stevenson taking on TBD in a scheduled six rounder.
