Rumors are surfacing that David Haye is still having trouble with his ruptured achilles.
Reports have been surfacing that David Haye may need to pull out of his upcoming rematch with Tony Bellew as he continues to deal with a nagging achillies injury. WBN reports that Haye is still having issues with the previously ruptured achilles tendon which was surgically repaired following Haye’s first meeting with Bellew — and this latest trouble could mark the end of Hayes career.
With only about five weeks left until the scheduled rematch between Haye and Bellew next month, this is obviously not a good sign. But with a purse in the millions on the line, Haye will obviously attempt to do everything possible before officially pulling the plug on the rematch.
Haye reportedly knew that he had a troubled achillies heading into the first fight with Bellew, but opted to go through with it anyway. That decision didn’t pay off (aside from financially, I suppose) as the tendon ruptured during the fight, causing Haye to fight as a one legged man. Taking advantage of Haye’s immobility, Bellew was able to batter him to force a stoppage.
Will we see another hobbled performance from Haye? It seems so if this fight actually goes through, but some media outlets are claiming the injury talk has been fabricated and that Haye is fit and ready for the rematch. We shall see…
