Jacobs vs Arias results: Daniel Jacobs dominates in return to HBO

By Scott Christ

Daniel Jacobs didn’t have a big highlight reel fight, but he was in firm control all night.

Daniel Jacobs’ return to HBO airwaves resulted in the first 12-round decision win of his career, as he dominated the fight against Luis Arias at the Nassau Coliseum in New York.

Official scores were 118-109, 119-108, and 120-107, all for Jacobs. BLH scored the fight 120-107 on two cards.

It was a fight that had plenty of trash talk from Arias (18-1, 9 KO) leading up to things, but in the end, it was pretty much all Jacobs (33-2, 29 KO), who showed some fire here and there, and said after the fight that the anger he had did throw him off at times.

Jacobs, 30, was coming off of an eight-month layoff, and made clear after the fight he wants to stay active going forward.

“All I wanna do is impress the fans, all I wanna do is be the people’s champion,” Jacobs told HBO’s Max Kellerman after the fight. He added, “I was lunging over a little bit, but [Arias is] a crafty guy.”

Jacobs added that he’ll be ringside for the December 16 fight in Montreal between WBO middleweight titleholder Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux.
