Jarrell Miller is promising fireworks in his next fight against Mariusz Wach.
Heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller is all squared-away to make his HBO debut on November 11, taking on Mariusz Wach in a scheduled 12-rounder. And during yesterday’s press conference in New York, the normally vocal Miller showed us more of the same.
“Nov. 11 is gonna be war. I’m going to kill something,” Miller said as he eyed opponent Mariusz Wach, who was seated at the dais just a few feet away. “It took teamwork to get to where I’m at. I could not get here by myself, but in that ring, I’m by myself. Come Nov. 11, I’m going to kick your behind. He got no idea. It’s going to be fireworks. I’m mean, I’m a killer. I’m gonna knock your head off. But thank you for signing the contract.”
The Miller-Wach fight will serve as the co-feature for Daniel Jacobs vs. Luis Arias, which will be Jacobs first fight since dropping a close decision to Gennady Golovkin earlier this year. But despite Miller not headlining this, he still talks a good game — good enough to hopefully one day be the leading man for his own card.
“I’m super motivated. When I mean I’m super motivated, I fought last time at 296 [pounds]. I’m 296 now, so imagine five weeks from now where I’m going to be at,” Miller said.
Wach, who is much more subdued when in front of a microphone, simply mentioned that Miller has never faced a fighter like him. Wach, 37, is most recently coming off two consecutive decision wins against lesser opponents since getting stopped by Alexander Povetkin back in late 2015.
