Shawn Porter mauled, wrestled and punched his way to a deserved crack at another world title.
The Las Vegas resident engaged in a grueling, physical bout with the hard-charging Adrian Granados, but it was Porter who found success in a fight contested almost entirely on the inside.
Porter controlled the action handily and grinded out a unanimous decision with all three judges turning in the same tally: 117-111.
Porter, a former champion, faded late, but there was a good reason: he injured his left hand around the seventh or eighth round, and he conducted his post-fight interview with a bag of ice on the appendage.
With the victory, Porter is now the No. 1 contender for the WBC welterweight title held by Keith Thurman, who topped Porter via a close decision in 2016.
