Wilder vs Stiverne II results: Shawn Porter wins decision over Adrian Granados

By Scott Christ

Shawn Porter still has Keith Thurman in his sights after beating Adrian Granados.

In an entertaining, scrappy fight that showcased the toughness of both fighters, Shawn Porter won a clear decision over Adrian Granados to win the vacant WBC “silver” welterweight title and maintain his mandatory challenger status to Keith Thurman.

Porter (28-2-1, 17 KO) won on scores of 117-111 across the board, with BLH’s two cards the same. Granados falls to 18-6-2 (12 KO).

Porter and Granados both came to fight, which is exactly what was expected, but this was a fight that had a clear winner, and the scores were on the money. Granados showboated and fought his heart out and ate some big shots from Porter, but he never consistently created the offense needed to sway the win rounds.

That’s not to say that Granados didn’t do some good work. He did, but Porter’s was better overall, and Granados spent much of the night fighting a style that benefited his opponent’s game plan.

Porter said after the fight that he hurt his hand in the sixth round, and that his father and trainer, Ken Porter, believes it’s broken. Granados complained that he deserved to win the fight, which was booed by the crowd in Brooklyn.
