White suggests that a Mayweather-McGregor UFC rematch has been the idea all along.
UFC president Dana White made an appearance on UFC Tonight where, among other things, he was asked for his take on Mayweather hinting at crossing-over to MMA for a sequel with Conor McGregor. According to White, Mayweather had always said he intended to fight McGregor in the octagon.

“You know, Floyd said leading up to the fight with Conor that he would do both. So, um, we’ll see what happens. Obviously the only way making that fight again makes any sense is if he comes into the octagon.
“We went over and boxed him, you know, the UFC and Conor McGregor, and now it’s time for him to reciprocate and come fight in the octagon.”
The more and more this topic comes up, the more and more it seems like there’s a real possibility of this actually happening. It obviously seems outlandish and all that at face value, but where there’s a buck (or a billion) to be made, who knows.
