The winner will face either George Groves or Chris Eubank Jr.

Callum Smith and Jurgen Braehmer’s World Boxing Super Series semi-final will take place on Saturday 24 February in Nuremberg, Germany.

The winner of Smith-Braehmer will advance into the final of the super-middleweight event, facing either George Groves or Chris Eubank Jr.

39-year-old Braehmer has won 49 of his 52 bouts since turning professional, 35 by knockout.

The German is a former light-heavyweight WBA world champion but dropped to super-middleweight following the loss of his crown against Wales’ Nathan Cleverley in October 2016.

29-year-old Liverpudlian Smith is unbeaten in his 23 professional contests, with 22 victories coming in Great Britain and the other win in the United States. 17 of “Mundo” Smith’s fights have been won by knockout.

Both fighters came through their respective quarter-finals on points. Brahmer overcame the American Rob Brant last October, while Smith defeated Sweden’s Erik Skoglund in September.

Smith-Braehmer is scheduled to take place a week after Groves and Eubank Jr fight in their semi-final – a fight which sees Groves’ WBA world title also on the line – in Manchester on 17 February.

The Super Series final will take place in May with the winner of the tournament collecting the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
