BoxRec has them ranked #5 and #6, respectively
The WBO title fight between reigning champ Zolani Tete and veteran Omar Narvaez, originally booked for February before Tete injured his calf, has a new home on the Carl Frampton-Nonito Donaire undercard.
Frank Warren is hopeful that a strong performance from Tete in Ryan Burnett’s hometown of Belfast will “lure [Burnett] out of hiding.”
Tete (26-3, 21 KO) figures to be a prohibitive favorite despite Narvaez’s (48-2-2, 25 KO) skills and experience. In addition to “Last Born’s” flat-out unreasonable punching power, he’s 6.5 inches taller than and has eight inches of reach on “El Huracán.” Unless Narvaez can turn back the clock in dramatic fashion, the real question is who will be willing to step up against Tete once he buries the Argentine veteran.
Tete vs. Narvaez is, as of this writing, the only title fight on Frampton-Donaire and, really, the only compelling matchup besides the main event yet officialized. Here’s hoping they fix that in these two months.
